Great North Road: Great North Road is a 45 bed direct access hostel for men. The overall aim is to assist vulnerable adults who find themselves homeless to develop the necessary skills and abilities to live independently. As a result of this, the following will be achieved: reduction of exclusions, reduction of abandonments, increased planned move on, reduce re-offending, encourage meaningful activity and employability, increase access to health services, increase numbers accessing treatment across all modalities, increase number maintaining treatment, increase number re-engaging into treatment and reducing relapse, reduce homelessness and repeat homelessness.
Centre for Change Adult Community Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service: The Community Drug Service for County Durham offers support and access to treatment for those aged over 18 who are using drugs and are involved and who may be also involved in the criminal justice system, and works in partnership with Liberty from Addiction (parents/careers) and Breaking the Cycle (children). Also, health, children's services, social services, probation and a variety of voluntary organizations, in order to provide a holistic package of treatment for those clients in their care.
Durham Employment & Skills: DES is the training unit of Durham County Council's Regeneration and Economic Development Division. DES is involved in the development and delivery of training and educational programs for the community, employers and employees. Programmes delivered include work programme, adult skills budget, skills support for the unemployed, skills support for the workforce, and NEEts engagement programme.
The Prince's Trust: The Prince's Trust is a charity that believes in young people who often don't believe in themselves. The charity seeks out those young people who need the help the most and work with young people who struggle at school, are in or leaving care, are long-term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law. They help them get back into work, education, and training.
Team Durham: Team Durham provides opportunities and sporting activities to disadvantaged groups including those affected by substance misuse, homelessness, disengaged young girls and vulnerable women, looked after children and young offenders. The strands of project work are young people, events, vulnerable adults, research and evaluation, and student community action.
Waddington Street Centre: WSC is a well respected and long established charity based in Durham City. They specialize in the provision of a wide range of learning opportunities for people experiencing severe and enduring mental health difficulties. They aim to help people live fulfilling lives in the community by offering opportunities for personal development, social interaction, and by supporting recovery.
