ABOUT THE PROGRAM
This program is organized by the Duke Community Service Center in collaboration with Durham and Regional Affairs and DukeEngage.
DukeEngage Durham’s Sister Cities program is a comparative introduction to community-based, economic development efforts in Durham, NC and its sister city of Durham, England. Participants serve both communities through structured, immersive and full-time volunteer placements with local non-profits in both communities. This dual immersion program allows participants to work within community partner organizations that address economic development in a variety of ways including community development, supporting youth savings camps, workforce re-entry, re-training and rehabilitation transitional housing programs, and social services outreach.
