The theme of this week of DukeEngage is Education and Employee Training, and that perfectly aligns with the mission of TROSA. Once a person interviews with TROSA and is accepted into the program, they start off as an "intern", starting off with a job such as cleaning duty, kitchen duty, etc. As the residents (another name for the people in the program as they all live on one of TROSA's campuses) work their way through the program, they enter different fields or move up in the ranks in their current fields. They are taught how to succeed in a professional environment through working real jobs that help TROSA operate (such as in the financial department or in one of TROSA's many businesses), and eventually after two-years become "graduates" of the program. TROSA provides GED education as well as opportunities to take classes at Durham Technical Community College. It also provides resume building and job search assistance, as well as transportation to work and sober living options for graduates. This comprehensive program with an "Each one, Teach one" motto uses an educational approach in its employee training of residents to prepare them to maintain their sobriety and have a successful life and career after completing the program.
